Aras today announced that the company will present at Zuken Innovation World in San Diego California on April 18-20, 2016. Hosted by Zuken, a software and consulting services provider for electrical and electronic design and manufacturing, the Aras session will address the Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) process challenges that global companies face in product development for smart, connected IoT products.  The Aras presentation titled “Beyond ECAD Connectors” by Pawel Chadzynski, Senior Director of Product Management at Aras, will take place on Tuesday April 19 at 10:20 am. It addresses the product development obstacles faced by companies with electronics-intensive designs such as IoT-enabled systems. Systems engineering-driven businesses have different needs than supply chain-oriented operations. The Aras presentation shares how Electronic Computer Aided Design (ECAD) connectors can expose the logical structure of schematics as part of the Requirements-Functional-Logical-Physical (RFLP) structure while still providing electronic design data across fabrication and assembly. Modular Management and Noëtic Data, LLC announce a cooperative agreement that they are providing consulting and software for product and component architecture together. What is Product Architecture? Imagine product X is composed of 20 separate modules – each module available in five different variants. If the modules have standardized interfaces, then each variant can be combined in different ways to create completely different products. What is Component Architecture? A company manufactures and sells a product line consisting of many products using components sourced from multiple suppliers. Using structured information techniques and component characteristics, the components are grouped into a logical architecture. Variations are identified relative to the others in the same group by comparing the characteristics, features and functions. The analysis reveals cost savings opportunities without compromising quality. This solution accelerates the dramatic benefits companies can achieve through modularity by simultaneously deploying Noetic Data and modular design to transform business

Eurostep has been selected to supply resources to FMV in a frame contract valid until December 31, 2017, with an option to extend the contract for two more years. The positions awarded to Eurostep are development of PLCS standard and implementation of the PLCS standard. The value of the two positions combined is expected to exceed 6 MSEK per year. “We are very proud to receive this contract,” says Håkan Kårdén, CEO Eurostep Group. “The previous frame contract proved very valuable in terms of possibilities to supply our resources into the important work of developing PLCS but also to move it beyond theory and into production. We certainly look forward to this continuation with FMV, a leading user of PLCS based solutions,” ends Mr Karden. Laser cutting on a fully automated Bystronic Fiber 3kw machine driven by Radan, now takes precedence over punching for a leading manufacturer of sheet metal welfare units for construction site and road workers. Welsh firm Groundhog produces units for workers to wash, sit, eat and change their clothes on site. Made from high tensile CA 240 cold-rolled steel, they can be static for long term sites, or mobile for ease of switching from one site to another. Groundhog was one of the first companies to introduce mobiles around 20 years ago, enabling contractors to avoid the cost of transporting and installing static assemblies. They manufacture 600 mobiles and 240 static units annually. The mobiles are all 2.5 metres wide, and come in four lengths between 3.6 and 6 metres, while the statics are 2.9 metres wide and either 6.1 or 7.6 metres long. Facilities include seating areas for six, eight

Lantek is launching the global release for 2016 of its Lantek Factory concept. The new version is inspired by sheet metal companies around the world producing parts for sheet metal, tubes and profiles for over 30 years. The new functionality takes producers closer to Industry 4.0 for advanced and agile manufacturing. Advanced automatic geometry recognition for multiple parts and dynamic lead in/out positioning reduces programing times, while the new Bevel 3D Designer allows interactive irregular bevel design in 2.5D. Part cost calculation has also been enhanced in compensation for head up/down times and sheet load/unload times. Cutting gains some improved strategies which optimize heat in the metal sheet during cutting, cut micro-joints at the end of machining, optimize hole destruction and, for punching, include specific strategies for special tools such as wheel or deburring. A new piercing strategy for thick materials, EcoPierce, saves both energy and time for thick parts. Lantek has introduced a
