Information technology firm Hexagon AB has acquired Aicon 3D Systems, a provider of optical and portable noncontact 3D measuring systems for industrial manufacturing.  Founded in 1990 and based in Braunschweig, Germany, Aicon serves automotive manufacturers and companies in the aerospace, shipbuilding, renewable energy and mechanical engineering markets. Its technology portfolio includes portable coordinate measuring machines for universal applications and specialized optical 3D measuring systems that enable efficient, high-precision monitoring, quality assurance and control in manufacturing production.  With over 140 employees, Aicon has a direct presence in Germany, subsidiaries in China, Korea, Japan, and the U.S. and a network of resellers worldwide supported by its field support resources.  Hexagon reported that Aicon will be fully consolidated as of April, and that company's sales for 2015 amounted to approximately €19 million.
