PTC Live Global 2014 (Commentary)

 PDF Key takeaways: Over 3,000 PTC customers and employees convened in Boston at PTC Live Global 2014 on June 16-19. PTC expanded on their Internet of Things and Service Lifecycle Management visions, and premiered Creo 3.0, a major step on their MCAD evolution journey. The acquisition of Atego, a systems engineering tool and services provider, brings leading-edge tools and skills that help PTC offer closed-loop lifecycle management. CIMdata recently attended PTC Live Global 2014 in Boston, MA, USA. PTC Live Global gives PTC customers the opportunity to not only hear and explore PTC’s solution strategies and roadmaps, but also to showcase their own work, network with peers, share ideas, and discuss how they are addressing their challenges. Purdue University’s prestigious College of Engineering has chosen to equip one of its key educational laboratories with NUM's open-architecture CNC systems and 3D simulation software. The equipment will provide students with hands-on CNC programming experience and help to familiarise them with advanced CNC machine tool operation and control techniques, using a powerful combination of virtual machines and physical high performance CNC demonstrator systems. Delcam has posted a series of videos on YouTube showing tips for users of its PowerSHAPE CAD software and its PowerMILL and FeatureCAM CAM systems.  These latest additions bring the total number of videos to over 1,200 on Delcam’s Advanced Manufacturing Solutions channel on YouTube.
