Altair today announced that its product development services division, Altair ProductDesign, has received a 2013 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance. To qualify for the award, Altair maintained a Silver composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from Oct. 1, 2012, to Sept. 30, 2013.
"We have worked with Boeing since 2005 and are honored to receive this award in acknowledgment of our efforts over the last twelve months," said Mak Gilbert, Engineering Manager at Altair ProductDesign. "Our specialist teams work alongside Boeing's engineers to optimize the performance and minimize the weight of their aircraft on a daily basis. We are grateful to receive this award as a sign of the successful and close working relationship between our two companies."
Altair's aerospace customers cover international manufacturers and their tier suppliers, with Boeing being one of Altair's largest aerospace clients. Boeing deploys Altair's HyperWorks® simulation suite throughout its engineering teams and makes extensive use of Altair ProductDesign's engineering experts who work onsite with Boeing's engineering teams. The combined team's work covers minimum-weight design, stress analysis, FE analysis, process automation and methods development for metallic and composite aircraft structures and tooling.

Altair's HyperWorks simulation suite is widely used throughout the industry to minimize the weight and maximize the performance of aircraft structures. The application of HyperWorks optimization technologies, supported by Altair ProductDesign's engineering experts, has seen aircraft structures realize average weight savings of 15 percent.
