Earlier in July, Delcam China hosted its first seminar in the Chinese market on applications of the PartMaker CAM system in the healthcare industry. The seminar was held in Changzhou in Jiangsu province, one of China’s main centres for the manufacture of medical equipment.
The event was organised in conjunction with Suzhou Unigenius Software and Starrag Group (Shanghai) and attracted more than forty delegates from thirty companies, including representatives of the leading medical equipment manufacturers and machine tool suppliers from the East China region.
Changzhou was chosen as the venue for the seminar because there are more than 300 manufacturers of medical devices in the city. During 2013, production of medical equipment in Changzhou was valued at 8.5 billion Yuan.
With the rapid development in the industry, Delcam China hopes to help more medical equipment companies in the region to adopt the world-leading PartMaker machining technology and enable them to produce high quality parts in the shortest possible time. Internationally, PartMaker is recognised as the leading programming system for turn-mill machines, bar-fed mills and Swiss-type lathes, equipment that is used extensively for the manufacture of medical devices. Leading companies in the industry that use the software include Aesculap, DePuy Synthes, Medtronic, NuVasive, Smith & Nephew and Zimmer.
For the seminar, Delcam China specially invited expert user, Bill Shields, from PartMaker’s headquarters in Philadelphia, USA, to present the benefits of the software, including the patented "Divide and Conquer” approach to toolpath generation that simplifies the programming of even the most complex multi-tasking machines. Delegates were also given demonstrations of the latest versions of the PartMaker with Delcam’s unique Vortex strategy for high-efficiency area clearance.
Another highlight in this seminar was a presentation by Mr. Li Haohao, an engineer from Biomet Co Ltd, who shared his experiences of using PartMaker. He explained how the PartMaker "had completely replaced manual programming, allowing the company to produce its parts more accurately and more quickly.”
As well as being the leading manufacturing software for medical device companies, PartMaker is the CADCAM choice of many of the world’s leading production machining organisations. It is used across a wide variety of industries including the aerospace, automotive, energy, power and telecommunications sectors.
PartMaker allows users to program and optimise the full range of CNC machining applications, including milling, turning, wire EDM, multi-axis turn-mill and Swiss-turning equipment. PartMaker supports virtually every multi-axis lathe on the market today.
