Dassault Systèmes and BoostAerospace Announce “AirDesign” Collaboration Platform

Dassault Systèmes and BoostAeroSpace, the European aerospace and defense digital exchange hub, announced today the launch of “AirDesign,” the European aerospace and defence industry’s collaboration platform.

AirDesign is a scalable collaboration platform available as a service on a high-security, private cloud or on-premise. Distributed by BoostAerospace and Dassault Systèmes, it consists of a neutral workspace for advanced OEM and partner PLM collaboration, design and manufacturing. Considered the next generation platform for collaboration and exchange, it has been designed to integrate all the key industry players, from OEM to small and medium business enterprises.

AirDesign drastically reduces operational costs for all partners through a single infrastructure, common exchange methods, open standards and easy access, all without adversely impacting existing information systems. All the primary European OEMs jointly requested and defined this platform in order to facilitate exchanges, support their suppliers’ ecosystems and generate new opportunities with services.

"The very complex problems of orchestrating aerospace and defence PLM systems between multiple partners have been solved with AirDesign,” said Jean Ferlus, CEO of BoostAerospace. “Its ability to handle and synchronize the exchange of highly secured PLM data has a positive effect on the quality, efficiency and productivity of the European aerospace industry. It gives the industry a strong application to support development.”

To manage the exchange of PLM data between all partners whatever their systems may be, AirDesign delivers three key capabilities through its digital exchange hub:

  • The first allows an OEM to organize exchanges in the context of programs and projects, including the delegation of administrative roles;
  • The second is an integrated, secured and automatic technical data package exchange. The traceability needed for complex programs is a native capability, ensuring proper management of large technical files between OEMs and suppliers;
  • The third capability consists of access to a wide variety of services, including converters based on standards or approval services that a partner can use during an exchange.

AirDesign provides new opportunities for all stakeholders in the aerospace ecosystem. Additional developments are planned, all leveraging the inclusiveness and openness of the AirDesign platform, powered by Dassault Systemes’ 3DEXPERIENCE platform and ENOVIA application.

"AirDesign provides an environment for aerospace and defence industry partners to accelerate and sustain collaborative innovation," said Michel Tellier, Vice President, Aerospace & Defence Industry, Dassault Systèmes. “It opens a large number of opportunities for suppliers of all sizes, as they will join an on-the-cloud mutualized infrastructure, spending the money and resources normally needed for an IT infrastructure on developing their business with more customers."

Dassault Systèmes is attending the Farnborough International Airshow (July 14-18) in the chalet B-32.
