At the SAE 2014 Aerospace Manufacturing and Automated Fastening (AMAF) Conference & Exhibition, September 23-25, 2014 in Salt Lake City, CGTech will be demonstrating the process of programming and simulating automated drilling and fastening machinery.
Visitors to CGTech’s booth, #204, will have the opportunity to receive an overview of the steps needed to drive an automated drilling and/or fastening machine. There will be information on projects that highlight the implementation and use of machine independent off-line NC programming and simulation software for these machines. Current customer projects to be highlighted include extensive use of robots.
“The cost of drilling or fastening mistakes in expensive airframe assemblies is very high,” said CGTech Product Marketing Manager Bill Hasenjaeger. “Without reliable simulation software, extensive time is spent avoiding problems.” On Wednesday, September 24, Hasenjaeger will be presenting in room 251B at 10:00 a.m.: “Case Study: Simulating Automatic Drilling and Fastening Machines to Avoid Errors.”
VERICUT Drilling & Fastening (VDAF) is a software application for simulating and programming auto-drilling & fastening machines. It is independent of both the machine and CAD system.
VDAF simulation is used to visualize and simulate CNC drilling and fastening machines from NC program code. Simulation is independent from programming, and VDAF can simulate NC programs from any programming system for any CNC-automated drilling and fastening machine.
The VDAF programming add-on option provides the ability to create NC programs for CNC auto-drilling and fastening machines. Fasteners are displayed in a tree dialog that groups fastener types under tree branches and orders them as needed.
Throughout the show, CGTech will also be demonstrating VERICUT Composite Applications: VERICUT Composite Paths for Engineering (VCPe), VERICUT Composite Programming (VCP) & VERICUT Composite Simulation (VCS). On Wednesday, September 24, Hasenjaeger will be presenting in room 251D at 2:00 p.m.: “How Automated Fiber Placement Path Planning Affects Design.”
CGTech will also be exhibiting its latest version of VERICUT software. VERICUT is CNC machine simulation, verification and optimization software that enables users to eliminate the process of manually proving-out NC programs. VERICUT simulates all types of CNC machining, including water jet, riveting, robotics, mill/turn and parallel kinematics. VERICUT runs standalone, but can also be integrated with leading CAM systems.
