OPEN MIND Technologies AG participated in its tenth SOLIDWORKS World event recently held in Phoenix AZ. Nine of these exhibits have been as a Gold Partner, which acknowledges the deep integration of hyperMILL® with SOLIDWORKS. Users run both CAD and CAM software concurrently on the same database to achieve perfect interoperability of SOLIDWORKS and hyperMILL®. There is no loss of data between CAD and CAM processes. This enables continuous workflows from design right through to manufacturing. That’s why the OPEN MIND maintains close contact with the CAD manufacturers and users.
SOLIDWORKS is an extremely popular design system, with over 2.8 million licenses. OPEN MIND’s integrated CAM solution is ideal for companies that design with SOLIDWORKS or for job shops that frequently receive native SOLIDWORKS data files from their customers. Many other CAD formats are also read directly into SOLIDWORKS.
The list of new features presented in the 2014.2 version of hyperMILL® was long and included 2D contour milling for 3D models, 2D plunge milling, 3D shape Z-level finishing, 3D rest machining, 5axis rework machining and a range of functions in the hyperMAXX® high-performance cutting (HPC) module.
OPEN MIND Account Manager Kevin Lewis also spoke in the Certified Partner Theater on the topic of stepping from 3-axis to multi-axis (3+2 or 5-axis simultaneous). This topic mirrored an ongoing seminar series hosted by DMG Mori Ellison in conjunction with OPEN MIND and other technology partners.
The OPEN MIND booth attracted many visitors in part due to innovative and eye-catching machining samples that demonstrate the limitless potential of machining. These samples included the Puzzle Ball (Video) and Hermle High-Heeled Shoe.
