The 13th annual "Create the Future" Design Contest (www.createthefuturecontest.com), sponsored by COMSOL and Mouser Electronics, along with Analog Devices, is now open for submissions and runs through July 1, 2015. Design an innovative new product idea that benefits society and the economy for the opportunity to receive global recognition and win a cash prize of $20,000.
The "Create the Future" Design Contest has been responsible for bringing attention to product designs that increase the quality of life, improve the efficiency and quality of healthcare, and help to reduce dependence on non-renewable energy sources.
"The Create the Future Design Contest does an amazing job of shining light on new product ideas and innovators. That is why COMSOL is delighted to be sponsoring the contest for the 11th year running," said Bernt Nilsson, COMSOL Senior VP of Marketing.
"Advancing technological innovation is at the core of what we do here at Mouser Electronics and we are very excited to support design engineers by helping once again to sponsor this global design contest for them," said Kevin Hess, Mouser Electronics' Vice President of Technical Marketing.
Past contests have generated over 10,000 design ideas from engineers, entrepreneurs, and students in more than 100 countries. Previous grand prize winning entries include a computerized construction method that rapidly 3D prints large-scale structures directly from architectural CAD models; a ChemoPatch capable of delivering quality early stage chemotherapy in developing countries; and an economical, rapid screening device that prevents foodborne illness.
This year's categories include: Aerospace & Defense, Automotive/Transportation sponsored by KAMAN, Consumer Products, Electronics sponsored by Imagineering, Inc., Machinery/Automation/Robotics sponsored by Maplesoft, Medical Products, and Sustainable Technologies. In addition to product concepts, designs for products that have been introduced to the market within the past 12 months are eligible.
Contest entries can be submitted by an individual or a team. An independent industry panel will judge the entries. Web site visitors are invited to vote for their favorite entry. For more information on how to enter the contest, go to www.createthefuturecontest.com.
