Tecplot, Inc., developer of the leading Visual Data
Analysis (VDA) software for engineers and scientists, today announced the general availability of Tecplot 360 EX 2015 Release 2.
The new release, which is ten times faster than the legacy (2013) version of Tecplot 360 at computational analysis and graphics rendering, is the easiest-to-use CFD post-processor available. Specific new features include customizable color maps and improvements to data-probing functionality.
“We always seek input from our customer base when planning what features go into a new release,” Tecplot Product Manager Scott Fowler said. “Customizable color maps were at the top of our customers’ wish list, so it was an easy decision to devote the development resources necessary to include them in this release. Likewise, improvements to the data-probing tool were requested often by our customers who perform CFD post-processing work.”
Customizable color maps allow users to understand variations in their data through the use of graphical point & click color options. The color maps help users identify areas of interest in CFD solutions as large as one-billion cells.
In an effort to better position Tecplot 360 EX as a powerful data analysis
tool, not merely a data visualization engine, enhancements to the data-probing functionality are included in the new release. These improvements allow users to more easily interrogate their data.
“Faster, more intuitive and easier to use – these are the primary benefits users of Tecplot 360 EX 2015 Release 2 will most appreciate,” Fowler said.
First released in 2014, Tecplot 360 EX is the most memory-efficient CFD post-processor available for desktop computers, requiring 92% less memory than earlier versions when loading modern
high-fidelity CFD solutions. CFD engineers are now able to load and analyze data once reserved for only the largest high-performance computing centers.
The software’s industry-leading speed – both computational and rendering — is achieved through Tecplot’s proprietary SZL technology
, which is a combination of deferred data loading, exhaustive parallelization, and many other code optimizations.
Platforms and Pricing
Tecplot 360 EX 2015 Release 2 supports Windows 8, 7, Vista, Mac OS X, and Linux. Pricing starts at $4,400 in the United States and Canada for a single-user perpetual license. Existing Tecplot 360 EX users with current Software Maintenance Service agreements can upgrade to 2015 Release 2 at no cost. Special pricing is available for qualified academic users.
