Artec 3D, a leading developer and manufacturer of professional 3D software and hardware, today announces a new product bundle that will equip customers with a full suite of the latest in reverse engineering hardware and leading design/inspection software from 3D Systems. The promotion, running worldwide through Spring 2016, offers a streamlined solution from 3D scan to CAD, providing users with Artec's cutting-edge Eva or recently-released Space Spider scanner in addition to 3D Systems' Geomagic Design X platform and a one year subscription to Artec Studio 10.
The tools made available through this joint offering will allow users to experience an improved reverse engineering process that begins with scans created using Artec's professional grade handheld scanners. The Artec Eva and Space Spider enable users to easily capture objects of varying sizes and degrees of complexity in high resolution and vibrant color, making them the tools of choice for scanning a broad range of items, especially those with sharp edges or small parts that may be difficult to recreate any other way.
"No 3D scanner, no matter how proficient, can stand alone," said Artyom Yukhin, president and CEO of Artec 3D. "It requires the support of software solutions that are equally as adept to turn captured data and cloud points into a desired object, recreated or newly invented, that can one day be held in your hand. We're excited to work with 3D Systems in this endeavor by offering designers and engineers the complete package of solutions necessary to further their work and the industry as a whole."
Once captured, the 3D scans can be processed using Artec's Studio 10 software, which works seamlessly with Artec's scanners to provide an intuitive interface for the processing of scanned data and creation of a watertight 3D model. The finished model can then be exported to the Geomagic Design X platform to create feature-based, editable solid models compatible with popular MCAD platforms.
"Geomagic Design X leads the industry in enabling 3D scan-to-CAD solutions," said Calvin Hur, VP, co-COO and Chief Revenue Officer, Software, 3D Systems. "The 2016 version of our software, when paired with Artec's high quality scanners, delivers unparalleled performance and streamlined creation of accurate CAD data from real world objects."
