Murata Manufacturing Using Aras to Unify Changing Product Design and Development Environments at Newly Acquired Global Locations

Aras® today announced that Murata Manufacturing Co., a worldwide leader in the design, manufacturing, and sale of ceramic-based passive electronic components and solutions, is using Aras Innovator® to unify expanding global business initiatives. After replacing a legacy PLM system, Murata is using Aras as an enterprise PLM platform to streamline collaboration between design and manufacturing locations, including the ability to easily and securely communicate product design and specification changes.

Murata chose Aras because the flexibility and customizability of the solution is ideal for accommodating the expanding business initiatives created through mergers and acquisitions, where the ability to easily adapt to varying product management workflows is a requirement. Additionally, Aras will be used to more efficiently manage customer requirements and improve customer service.

Murata chose Aras based on the following criteria:

  • Customization capabilities without involvement of developers
  • Subscription model with lower total cost of ownership (TCO) for an expanding user base
  • User access management and end-to-end security
  • Managing product and specification changes across geographies and new locations with engineering change notices
  • Application flexibility to accommodate different end-user scenarios

“Murata recognizes the challenges associated with the design and development of complex product systems, especially in regards to the increasing commoditization of electronic components,” said Peter Schroer, CEO of Aras. “Aras will provide Murata with the flexibility they need to transform their product development processes to continue to deliver cutting-edge products for today’s fast-paced, global markets.”

Murata Manufacturing Co., Ltd. is a worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and sale of ceramic-based passive electronic components & solutions, communication modules and power supply modules. Murata is committed to the development of advanced electronic materials and leading edge, multi-functional, high-density modules.
