Statoil has signed an agreement to use Aveva's strategic 3D design software platform to implement its projects.
The Norwegian energy company has selected the new Aveva Everything3D (Aveva E3D) as an upgrade of its existing design system Aveva PDMS.
Statoil will be able to meet the future demand of cost-effective project execution, using its integration with laser survey capabilities, clash detection and improved design as well as drawing capabilities.
Using this new software, the company and its contractors can cut project schedules and also reduce rework during the design and construction phases.
Using Aveva E3D, Statoil can migrate and access the 3D design for both new and existing facilities in a flexible manner.
Aveva sales executive vice-president Helmut Schuller said: "Statoil has selected AVEVA E3D as its 3D solution of choice for both its greenfield and brownfield complex plant design projects.
"The Aveva E3D interface is very easy to use and extremely powerful so our customers are quickly up to speed with minimal training and no disruption to existing projects.
"Its ease of implementation and use gives Statoil access to AVEVA E3D's multitude of benefits without the normal risks associated with new projects and long-term operations."
At present, Statoil is using the software on 52 brownfield and seven greenfield models in addition to the new Johan Sverdrup field development project.
The company also converted its older plants such as the Snøhvit LNG Plant in the Barents Sea, the refinery at Mongstad in Norway and Kalundborg in Denmark, and the gas treatment facility at Kårstø to Aveva PDMS.
