Plans to Use Oracle Software to Track Andhra Road Works

In order to speed up the construction of roads and bridges in the State, the Andhra Pradesh government is contemplating using software giant Oracle’s ‘Primavera system’ to track online the progress of the works.

Briefing newsmen after meeting the representatives of Oracle at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, Minister for Transport and Roads & Buildings Sidda Raghava Rao said Oracle’s Primavera system will help the government keep track of the progress of construction of roads in the State.

“We can monitor the progress of work sitting in the headquarters.

This will help officials in not only knowing the progress of work in real time but also in giving contractors guidance from time to time,” he said.

Primavera is the leading global provider of cloud and on-premise Enterprise Project Portfolio Management (EPPM) solutions. Primavera provides project and program management software for the architecture, engineering and construction industry, the minister said.

Primavera solutions was even used for the construction of the world famous Burj Khalifa tower, China’s Three Gorges Dam and other major projects across the world, he informed.

“We would forward this proposal to the Chief Minister.

Once he approves it we would start discussing the modalities of the project with Oracle,” he said.

There are about 45,000 km of roads in the State and with various industrial corridors coming up, new roads are bound to come up at various places and to speed up the construction of these roads this software would be very useful, the transport minister said.

On modernisation of major bus stations, Raghava Rao said bus stations at all important places and particularly at Tirupati, Visakhapatnam and Vijayawada would be developed with all modern amenities for passengers.

“Already works in Vijayawada, Ongole, Guntur and Rajamahendravaram bus stations have almost been completed and soon works in other bus stations will be completed,” he said.

Raghava Rao said modernisation of ‘B’ category bus stations will be taken up after works of major bus stations are over.
