CONTACT Software and Trubiquity have extended the existing TRUfusion interface to CIM DATABASE PDX. PDX (Product Data Exchange) is one of the central services of the PLM platform. For system suppliers in particular, it provides a highly automated, secure way of exchanging product data with OEMs.
The TRUfusionTM interface in PDX, which had previously only been available for sending CAD data and accompanying documentation, now supports inbound exchange. The solution was designed jointly and fully reflects the high expectations clients have of their tier 1 suppliers with regard to data conditioning, checking rules, transmission channels and so on.
"Every automotive manufacturer or plant manufacturer has specific requirements regarding standards, protocols and formats”, says Dr. Jan Kickstein, Head of Application Development at CONTACT. “We automate the various procedures for converting, checking and packaging the data, thus largely eliminating the need for manual conditioning of the incoming and outgoing data." The entire process for sending and receiving data is controlled and monitored centrally by CIM DATABASE PDX and logged in its entirety in the PLM system. This not only simplifies the process of importing and exporting CAD data, but also makes cross-company collaboration between tier 1 suppliers and OEMs faster and more secure.
Companies that use PDX minimize the risks associated with exchanging product data and benefit from significantly reduced costs. The burden on users and administrators is reduced, the inherent risk associated with manual procedures is avoided and automatic transaction logging provides a high level of legal certainty. Kickstein sums up the benefits of this PLM component: "Our customers can be certain that their product data is up-to-date and available in the correct format for each of their clients."
