Quantapoint PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 10.0 3D Laser Scan Data Software to Begin Beta Testing

Quantapoint (http://www.quantapoint.com) provider of laser scanning technology and services that helps companies achieve Zero-Defect Projects™ -- announced that beta testing will begin next week for PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 10.0. PRISM 3D enables a Digitized Facility™ of 3D laser scan data to be accessed directly as high-definition Laser Models™ (not fuzzy "point clouds") and photo-realistic Laser Images™. QuantaCAD enables the same Digitized Facility™ to be accessed directly within design and review software such as Autodesk AutoCAD, AVEVA PDMS, AVEVA Review, Bentley AutoPlant, Bentley Microstation V8XM, Intergraph PDS, Intergraph SmartPlant Review and more.

The theme for the PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD 10.0 release is "improving design effectiveness and collaboration". Some of the major capabilities include:

--  Multi-user Database: Share measurements across the team via a multi-

    user database to ensure consistent information and easier interactions.

--  Measurement Manager: Store and display multiple measurements on screen

    to intuitively emphasize desired information.

--  SmartPlant 3D / SmartMarine 3D Integration: Access Laser Models and

    Laser Images in SmartPlant and SmartMarine 3D, providing clear information

    for design.

--  Laser Image Highlighting: Demolitions or clashes may be highlighted in

    Laser Images to provide a photo-realistic view of areas requiring

    modification.

--  One-Click Pipe Estimator: Estimate pipe information with a single-

    click in Laser Images or Laser Models for faster designs.

--  Extruded Pipe Estimator: Estimate pipe information by selecting the

    extents to be used in Laser Images or Laser Models for more precise

    designs.

--  State Manager: Store and recall laser data (Laser Models, Laser Images

    and views) to focus on areas or interest and more quickly resume work.

--  Embedded Laser Images: Use Laser Images directly for reviews to

    provide a photo-realistic view of the 3D design that is more easily

    understood across the team.

--  Export "Optimized Point Cloud": Export Laser Model areas as "Optimized

    Point Clouds" (more dense and clear than fuzzy "point clouds") in formats

    compatible with NavisWorks.

By using PRISM 3D / QuantaCAD to put reality on the desktop and in design software, clients have typically been able to reduce remodeling time by 85% (by using Laser Models instead of CAD remodeling or as a basis to remodel), decrease design time by 60% (by accessing more complete and clear Laser Models and Laser Images for design) and cut rework from design clashes by 85% (by correcting clashes between the Laser Models and the new CAD design).

About Laser Models and Laser Images

Laser Models™ are a unique Quantapoint technology that integrates all laser scan data to provide detailed, high-definition 3D solid "models" of a facility. Laser Models are visually clear and include fine details, unlike older "point cloud" technology whose sparse measurements make it difficult to visualize or understand the facility and more likely to miss critical design details. Laser Models provide more complete information for more complete designs.

Quantapoint Laser Images are photo-realistic, panoramic images of laser scans from individual laser scanner locations ("scanner-centric"). Because Laser Images are 360-degree images, they may be panned and zoomed like virtual reality programs to view the surrounding area. Laser Images are ideal for "virtual" site visits due to their high resolution.
