Bluebeam Software Releases White Paper on Implementing Paperless Construction Projects

Building project teams, large and small, use an excessive amount of paper to create, distribute and review project drawings and documents.

Today, as the 2009 Greenbuild Conference and Expo opens, Bluebeam Software announced the immediate availability of a white paper that will help design and construction firms develop greener communication practices based on PDF. “Paperless Construction Projects: Implementing New Technologies to Digitize Project Communication” outlines how project teams can implement PDF editing technology such as Bluebeam PDF Revu along with mobile and pen-input hardware solutions to create more efficient, electronic workflows.

The paper was written by Erica Lee, RA and LEED AP, an architect with 20 years experience working on large commercial and hospitality projects. “Over the past several years, PDF has become an integral part of my entire design through construction process,” said Lee. “It is my hope that the information in this paper will help affect real change in the way we as architects, engineers and contractors share and communicate project data.”

“There is something for everyone on a project team to learn from this paper, from those already using PDF for project communication to those still using pen and paper,” said Stephani Haynes, Director of Marketing at Bluebeam Software. “Erica has outlined the benefits of incorporating PDF along with tablet PCs, interactive whiteboards and pen-input monitors, throughout each phase of a project, and offers new ideas for using PDF to create efficiencies.”
