Tech Soft 3D Announces the Release of HOOPS® v18.0
Leading graphics toolkit provider Tech Soft 3D (TS3D) announced the availability of HOOPS v18.0, featuring enhancements driven by its extensive customer base of over 200 engineering software companies.
“The new features in HOOPS v18 were chosen by listening carefully to our customers’ needs and using our experience to anticipate the future of the graphics industry,” said Gavin Bridgeman, Director of Product Management for Tech Soft 3D. “This gave us the insight to provide cutting-edge functionality in three pivotal areas: enhanced shader capabilities, improved rendering performance, and expanded point cloud functionality.”

About HOOPS
HOOPS is a high-performance graphics framework used within applications from engineering software companies such as Autodesk®, Solidworks®, PTC®, MSC.Software, ANSYS®/Fluent, COADE, Siemens PLM Software, Mitutoyo, IronCAD and over 200 others. By leveraging the set of HOOPS libraries, software teams develop high-performance, visually-rich applications and get those applications to market quickly and cost-effectively.

Highlights of HOOPS v18.0 include:
- Significantly enhanced shader capabilities with a particular focus on shadowing and ambient occlusion, including new shaders for bloom and depth of field effects. With HOOPS v18, developers now have the ability to hook up their own custom GLSL/HLSL shaders. Visual quality is rapidly becoming a key way for engineering software applications to differentiate themselves from the competition. Exposing some of these shader-based capabilities will dramatically improve the look of your application.
- Rendering performance gains through broad improvements to our fixed framerate, static tree and segment-level display list. End users have an insatiable appetite for applications to smoothly interact with larger and larger models. These new capabilities in HOOPS help your graphics performance keep up with your users’ expectations, as well as the competition.
- Expanded point cloud capabilities including a preview of our new out-of-core point cloud system, which allows pre-processing, rendering and interacting with models containing billions of points on even a low-end 32-bit desktop.
