Delcam Taiwan will demonstrate the latest developments from Delcam’s development team, the largest in the CAM industry, at the TIMTOS exhibition to be held in Taipei from 3rd to 8th March.  Programs on show will include PowerMILL for high-speed and five-axis machining; FeatureCAM for quick and easy feature-based CAM programming; and PartMAKER for turn-mill equipment and Swiss-type lathes. The latest release of PowerMILL includes improvements to the Vortex high-efficiency area-clearance strategy, developments in toolpath simulation and verification, improved collision checking to also cover near misses, and more efficient raster finishing, area clearance and drilling, plus more options for customisation by users.   Complete verification can now be undertaken of a project for machine-tool issues such as collisions, saving considerable time compared to undertaking verification of each individual toolpath in turn.  Comprehensive verification is performed, including ensuring that the machine tool is capable of running the proposed strategy, as well as checking for both machine-tool collisions and tooling collisions.  A detailed list

NEC Corporation announced the company-wide unification of development processes for IT and network products by implementing a product data management (PDM) system that consolidates the management of product technology information, such as design drawings, specification documents and bills of material (BOM). Until now, each of NEC's business units created and operated their own PDM systems and development processes for hardware products. This new system standardizes procedures throughout the entire NEC Group by unifying the management of product technology information, such as design drawings, specifications documents and BOM. This was accomplished using NEC's "Obbligato III" PLM software, which holds the top market share in Japan (*1). This is now the largest PDM system of its kind in Japan (*2), being used by approximately 17,000 employees to manage roughly 24 million components and 18 million design drawings and specification documents. Moreover, this system makes it possible for NEC to produce the same products throughout multiple

At the International Dental Show in March, ModuleWorks will be showing all the latest developments in the ModuleWorks Dental product range.  Originally launched back in 2009, the product aims to bring the benefits of hundreds of man-years of toolpath development technology from the CAM market to the Dental market.  And in the two years since the previous IDS show, this technology has enabled many new toolpath creation methods to be made available to Dental CAM customers. Unlike many technology providers, ModuleWorks does not sell software to end users directly, but produces an OEM product which is built in to the software of a partner.  This allows ModuleWorks to focus on the technical developments which provide the power behind many Dental CAM systems. Among the features ModuleWorks will be demonstrating are: 5-Axis Constant Cusp toolpaths to machine undercuts Automatic 3+2-Axis Z-Level toolpaths to machine undercuts Lollipop cutter strategies to machine undercuts on a 3-axis machine Rotary machining
