Delcam’s reseller in Brazil, SEACAM, will demonstrate the company’s complete range of design, machining and inspection software at the Feira da Mecanica exhibition to be held in Sao Paulo from 20th to 24th May.  The centrepiece of stand D099 will be a demonstration of machining by robot using a Motoman robot.  SEACAM will also highlight new functionality in Delcam’s PowerSHAPE Pro CAD software, in the PowerMILL, PartMaker and FeatureCAM CAM systems, and in the PowerINSPECT inspection software. Robots can be extremely cost-effective for machining large parts, for the production of larger items of tooling, and for the trimming and drilling of panels in metal or composites.  Delcam’s PowerMILL Robot software makes it as easy to program a robot for machining as it is to program a five-axis machine tool.  Furthermore, with PowerMILL Robot, users have access to the comprehensive range of multi-axis machining strategies within PowerMILL.  PowerMILL Robot can be used to

Remcom announces a strategic partnership with AR Europe, a supplier of power amplifiers, antennas, and EMC testing equipment and support.  The partnership will expose Remcom’s Electromagnetic Simulation Software and services to a broader audience and make its solutions more easily accessible to European customers. Michael Hicks, director of business development for Remcom, said the decision to partner with AR Europe was the result of their engineering expertise and entrenchment in the European electromagnetics market.  “We wanted to consolidate our European distribution points in order to create efficiencies both for Remcom and for our customers.  With that in mind, we set out to find a partner with three key advantages: established longevity in the region, proven sales understanding of the market, and high-level technical resources to provide engineering support to our customers.  AR Europe is an exceptional fit for these criteria and will be a natural extension of Remcom in the many European countries

Infosys has been recognized as a winner in the 2014 Simulating Reality contest. The contest is organized by MSC Software, a leader of multidisciplinary simulation solutions. The winning team from Infosys used MSC’s simulation technologies to better diagnose osteoporosis and accurately quantify fracture risk. Osteoporosis, a disease characterized by a decrease in bone mass and density, leads to diminished bone strength and increased risk of fracture. Currently, medical practitioners estimate bone fracture risk for patients through qualitative methods including physical examination, CT scans, X-rays and measurement of bone mineral density (BMD), and physiological parameters such as gender, age, and weight. The innovative solution designed by Infosys applies the proven principles of mechanical engineering to understand the biomechanics of the human vertebrae and reduce the scope of errors in estimating fracture risks. Highlights The Infosys team developed a solution using computer-assisted design and finite element analysis (FEA) tools to study mechanics of vertebrae taking into account various

Delcam’s Advanced Manufacturing Solutions were showcased at the recent half-day seminar at Aurangabad in Maharashtra, India.  The event was held to update prospective buyers and Delcam customers on technologies like multi-axis machining, machining with robots, CAD-based inspection and revolutionary Delcam technologies like the award-winning Vortex high-efficiency, area-clearance strategy. Aurangabad is one of the major industrial areas in Maharashtra and its four large industrial areas are home to many Indian companies as well as multinational major corporations.  The area is well known for its automotive suppliers and a large proportion of these companies are Delcam customers.  Regional representatives of Delcam’s leading machine-tool and cutting-tool partners were also invited to the seminar. Delcam experts demonstrated the benefits of using multi-axis CAM from PowerMILL for the programming of large moulds and dies.  In addition to this, it was shown with what ease large parts can be measured on the shop floor itself by using an

Mentor Graphics Corporation today announced the new MicReD® Industrial Power Tester 1500A for power cycling and thermal testing of electronics components to simulate and measure lifetime performance. The MicReD Industrial Power Tester 1500A tests the reliability of power electronic components that are increasingly used in industries such as automotive and transportation including hybrid and electrical vehicles and trains, power generation and converters, and renewable energy applications such as wind turbines.  It is the only commercially available thermal testing product that combines both power cycling and thermal transient measurements with structure function analysis while providing data for real-time failure-cause diagnostics.  Power components are used for applications in which electrical energy is generated, converted, or controlled and where very high reliability is required during many years of constant operation. This new product is built for industrial electronic manufacturers to test reliability by examining the thermally induced degradations within the module stack-up. Both power

Software training firm Infinite Skills Inc. last week introduced its "Mastering Autodesk Inventor - Surfacing," an advanced course teaching users how to apply the tools and techniques inside Inventor to create robust parametric surface models in this popular computer assisted design (CAD) program for mechanical engineers. Autodesk Inventor is 3D CAD software used to create, visualize, and simulate mechanical products. Though many look to other programs for surfacing tools, this course demonstrates the dynamic surfacing tools inside Inventor itself. Infinite Skills Mastering Autodesk Inventor - Surfacing Tutorial demonstrates how to use these powerful tools with a quick course including projects for applying the lessons in everyday design situations. Course author Paul Munford began his career as a woodworker, building sets for the movie and television industry. He later moved into the digital design world, eventually becoming an expert in 3D drafting. He has won the Manufacturing Community Achievement Award from Autodesk and is

Delcam has added a range of enhancements to its Delcam Electrode integrated solution for the design, machining and inspection of electrodes, and has extended the range of EDM equipment supported by the software.  For full details, please visit www.delcam-electrode.com The system has also benefitted from a number of new options introduced into Delcam’s PowerSHAPE design software which provides the CAD element of the overall solution, in particular, the new option to merge fragmented faces into a single, continuous surface and so produce cleaner, simple electrode geometry.  This simplification makes subsequent operations, such as adding draft to complex regions of the model, much easier and also improves the operation of many of the direct modelling tools in the software. Delcam Electrode can now provide scripts for Exeron and JDMA EPX equipment as well as the previously supported AgieCharmilles (Agievision and CT Millennium controls), Makino EDM, Mitsubishi Electric, ONA EDM, OPS-Ingersoll, Sodick and Zimmer
