Wipro, Cognizant and Accenture have entered the fray to bag a business process outsourcing contract from ride-hailing app Uber to improve its mapping and thereby the experience for its customers and drivers. Uber has floated a request for proposal (RFP) for the Uber Map Improvement Group. The attempt is to enhance its mapping assets, including to ensure faster pick-up times. Uber is learnt to have told IT/BPO service providers that it would launch map improvement at scale beginning March and is looking to onboard 500 to 1,000 operators, running in two shifts, by the end of 2016 or early 2017, said sources familiar with the development. These sources said the multi-year BPO contract is expected to be around $50 million (Rs 350 crore).An email sent to Uber did not elicit a response. Wipro said it does not comment on ongoing business pursuits while a Cognizant spokesperson said it doesn't comment on speculation

Infosys, India's second largest IT firm, has set a target of raising its revenues by 16 percent in the next fiscal, as its CEO Vishal Sikka tries to revive the company to put it back on industry-leading growth rate path. The Bengaluru-based IT major hopes to surpass its peers, such as Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) and US-based Cognizant Technology Solutions, in revenue growth in 2016-2017. The target was laid out by Infosys at its annual meeting held in Mysuru last week, the Economic Times reported, citing sources who attended the meeting. The company also aims to improve its operating profits to around 27 percent in the next fiscal, according to the sources. Infosys' ambitious target comes at a time when the industry body has turned slightly negative over the growth of the sector in FY2017.
