Mentor Graphics Corporation announced that the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit has upheld the patentability of claims in U.S. Patent No. 6,240,376 for emulation technology developed by Mentor Graphics®. In October of 2014 a jury found that Synopsys infringed several claims of the '376 Patent and awarded Mentor Graphics more than $36 million in damages, and in March 2015 Mentor Graphics obtained a permanent injunction against Synopsys' infringement. In parallel with the litigation, Synopsys petitioned the United States Patent and Trademark Office to review the validity of the claims of the '376 Patent. After a trial before the Patent Office, the validity of the patent claims asserted in the litigation was confirmed. Synopsys appealed to the Federal Circuit, which has now affirmed the Patent Office's decision. In order to speed up the construction of roads and bridges in the State, the Andhra Pradesh government is contemplating using software giant Oracle’s ‘Primavera system’ to track online the progress of the works. Briefing newsmen after meeting the representatives of Oracle at the Secretariat here on Wednesday, Minister for Transport and Roads & Buildings Sidda Raghava Rao said Oracle’s Primavera system will help the government keep track of the progress of construction of roads in the State. “We can monitor the progress of work sitting in the headquarters. This will help officials in not only knowing the progress of work in real time but also in giving contractors guidance from time to time,” he said. Trimble announced the acquisition of London/New York based Sefaira Ltd., a leading developer of cloud-based software for the design of sustainable and high-performance buildings. Trimble announced fourth quarter and fiscal year end 2015 results. Fourth Quarter 2015 Financial Summary Fourth quarter 2015 revenue of $559.7 million was down 1 percent as compared to the fourth quarter of 2014. Engineering and Construction revenue was $319.1 million, down 3 percent. Field Solutions revenue was$79.4 million, down 2 percent. Mobile Solutions revenue was $132.2 million, up 7 percent. Advanced Devices revenue was $29.0 million, down 5 percent. Foreign currency translation unfavorably impacted company revenue by approximately 3 percent as compared to the fourth quarter of 2014. GAAP operating income was $32.9 million, down 57 percent as compared to the fourth quarter of 2014.
