Agilent Technologies Inc. today announced its acquisition of electrothermal analysis technology from Gradient Design Automation, the maker of HeatWave electrothermal analysis software. Agilent EEsof EDA now has sole ownership of Gradient's core technology and will serve customers of both the integrated Advanced Design System software solution and Gradient's HeatWave solution. The electrothermal analysis technology allows designers to identify and correct thermal problems during integrated circuit development. "Thermal management is one of the toughest challenges facing modern IC designers," said Todd Cutler, general manager of Agilent EEsof EDA. "That's why our integrated ADS electrothermal solution was so well received by customers following its introduction and has already been adopted by several major RFIC/MMIC vendors. Today's announcement further reinforces our commitment to continue working to solve this difficult challenge for our customers." The acquisition stems from a cooperative agreement between Agilent and Gradient that began in 2012, when a version of Gradient's technology was integrated into the ADS

Zuken continues to add new team design capabilities with new versions of its System Planner and Design Gateway software, part of the CR-8000 single and multi-board design solution. Zuken’s CR-8000 is the industry’s only next-generation product-centric design solution for creating complex product designs. System Planner and Design Gateway – at the core of Zuken’s CR-8000 2D/3D single and multi-PCB and IC packaging design solution (which was introduced in 2011) – contain enhancements that allow teams of engineers to work concurrently on the same design, new checks to ensure integrity in hierarchical and system level designs, and enhanced generation of intelligent PDF data to aid design communication. “CR-8000 is extremely intuitive to use. We recently formed a department to develop a new product with a multi-board design; selecting CR-8000 ensured we have the latest product design technology. We are implementing a successful migration from CR-5000, which we run in parallel with CR-8000” -

Dassault Systèmes today announced that its new SOLIDWORKS Inspection application is now available. Unveiled at SOLIDWORKS World 2014 in January, SOLIDWORKS Inspection completely automates the creation of inspection documents, which are required by numerous industries. Meeting international standards is key in today’s global manufacturing world. Regardless of whether a company does business locally or globally, it has to submit early design and manufacturing reports such as a First Article Inspection (FAI) report, inspection report or ballooned drawing (where dimensions for inspections are drawn in a balloon or bubble shape). These reports measure the property and geometry of a product before it is built – and are critical for organizations facing the stringent requirements and safety regulations of the transportation & mobility, aerospace & defense, energy, process & utilities and life sciences industries. With the SOLIDWORKS Inspection application, companies can quickly re-use existing design data and content to create highly accurate inspection reports, such

Omnify Software today unveils its latest Empower PLM application story featuring WiTricity, the industry pioneer in Highly Resonant Wireless Power Transfer (HRWPT) over distance. WiTricity implemented Empower in the company's early stages in order to employ automated and efficient engineering processes that would position them for success as they grew. WiTricity was a typical start-up company with a small team managing design information in Excel spreadsheets. Even with the minimal amount of data they were managing, they were experiencing the chaos of manual processes. Spreadsheet revisions were constantly changing with no formal change control process or centralized repository location. They needed to replace their Excel spreadsheets with a more formal and controlled automated system for managing dynamic product information such as Bills of Materials (BOMs), engineering changes and product documentation. Omnify Empower was ideal for a start-up company like WiTricity. It offered a price that was competitive with a part management system they were considering,
