As part of the 2015 DraftSight World Tour, Graebert and Dassault Systèmes met with developers from Europe, Asia and Americas to talk about the DraftSight Plugins Distribution and how to share their optimized solutions with the 3M+ active users of the platform. DraftSight now has the second-largest installed base of any CAD program and is the only provider offering powerful marketing tools to promote partner apps directly to end-users.
Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks demonstrated during the last event of the World Tour in Bangkok, Thailand, how the Plugin-of-the-Month offer is now directly inserted in the home palette of DraftSight for in-app purchase. The DraftSight plugin of the month is also showing up as a suggestion in the Dassault Systèmes store when users are purchasing DraftSight Professional.
Several key SolidWorks VARs have recently become official resellers of both DraftSight Enterprise and Professional for worldwide customers. During the several stops on the World Tour, developers and resellers of all sizes learned how to market their own plugins for DraftSight and discovered the unprecedented power and flexibility of the DraftSight API.
While DraftSight supports plugins developed in LISP or via a COM interface, the DraftSight API is a modern C++ development library that has been specifically developed for ISVs and their specific needs. One of its unique advantages is forward-compatibility, meaning that plugins created for one version of DraftSight will be easily supported by future versions.
Lastly, Graebert revealed that its own store for plugins now contains 24 products – including the new CAD Blocks for DraftSight family priced from USD59. A range of other plugins will go live in the store over the next weeks.
