Elsevier, today announced the launch of Knovel Quick Search for AutoCAD. Available to customers at no cost, the feature rich, easy-to-use search plugin connects Knovel's essential insights with one of the most widely used CAD software programs in engineering markets. This integration significantly improves the users' efficiency and workflow.
Knovel Quick Search for AutoCAD empowers users to solve a broad range of knowledge-driven questions though a vetted collection of trusted engineering reference material without interrupting their normal CAD workflow. Users launch their search from within the Autodesk AutoCAD software environment, review results with snippets, and then access full Knovel content when a result is selected. This is particularly useful to users in the engineering, design and construction (ED&C) industry, as well as the oil and gas (O&G) industry, especially those with a focus on engineering design-such as piping design, plant design, and building design where geometric and special decisions are driven by performance characteristics generally conveyed in textual reference works.
"Our goal is to facilitate access to critical information that engineers need during the design process, and the Knovel Quick Search for AutoCAD brings the power of Knovel right to the engineer's CAD applications, where they can use it the most," said Prabhu (VP) Natarajan, Vice President of Product Management, R&D Solutions for Elsevier. "We continue to improve the information and insights discovery process for engineers - they can easily find reference materials, material properties, design guidelines and best practices at the point of need and from software programs they use on a frequent basis."
The plug-in requires access to AutoCAD and a subscription to Knovel. Users can search Knovel for all the best practices, reference materials and material properties data available via their organization's subscription plan. Knovel Quick Search for AutoCAD is available for multiple AutoCAD versions from the following Autodesk App Store pages:
