Cimatron Limited announced today the official release of CimatronE 12, the latest version of its integrated CAD/CAM software. CimatronE 12 provides new and enhanced tools that can dramatically ramp up productivity and minimize overheads in the design and manufacturing of molds, dies and discrete parts. "More than ever, tool shops are under growing pressure to stay competitive," said Mr. Ira Bareket, Cimatron's VP Sales and Marketing. "While high quality is a given, delivery deadlines get shorter and shorter. In addition, tool shops may find themselves in situations where they are forced to slash delivery times after a project has already started. This presents them with serious challenges, particularly in managing their workflow and remaining profitable. CimatronE's newest version addresses these challenges with significant improvements in design automation, process management, machine utilization and ease of use, and helps our customers achieve success." On the CAM side, CimatronE 12 has raised the bar with programming efficiency, roughing productivity

Arena Solutions today announced that it has integrated Arena PLM with SiliconExpert Technologies’ extensive electronic components information database. As a result, Arena PLM customers can now perform proactive health and risk assessments on all components within the BOM (Bill of Materials) and leverage their subscription to SiliconExpert’s deep and richly documented components database. To be successful, OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers) must develop and deliver superior products on schedule and under budget. Success depends largely on maintaining a healthy supply chain and reducing risk factors such as obsolescence, single-sourced components, regulation compliance, and market availability of electronic components. Failure to assess and mitigate these risks can result in product lifecycle issues, increased product costs and poor product quality. Arena’s integration with SiliconExpert addresses these challenges by enabling users with instant access to critical component information and delivering complete transparency across the entire product BOM in a single view. ZW3D today announced it has been chosen by BioPlastics, a manufacturer of coated webbing products, for efficient mold design, helping them respond to customers faster than ever with saved costs. BioPlastics is a leading global manufacturer of coated webbing and assemblies, with products widely applied in markets like equine, medical, sporting goods, canine, safety and military and more. The Need In the past, BioPlastics used a 2D system to design customized extrusion dies to apply plastic coating to webbing and then outsourced the machining work. And their vendor would re-create the design using CAD/CAM program. “It was inefficient and cost us money,” says Bob Sherwin, Design Engineer of BioPlastics. “There would always be these extra expenses for ‘engineering time’ on invoices from the tooling shop.” Sherwin says, “Since the tooling shop was using a 3D package, we started investigating 3D solid modeling programs and finally selected ZW3D, in part, because our vendor was using ZW3D,
