Simpleware, provider of 3D image to model software, are set to collaborate on a future release with MachineWorks, a global company offering polygon mesh software solutions. Simpleware will integrate MachineWorks’ Polygonica mesh processing libraries into its +CAD module, an extension of its core image processing software ScanIP.
Simpleware +CAD provides a straightforward method for the import, interactive positioning and integration of CAD models with image data. The resulting meshes can be exported as multi-part CAD models, or using Simpleware’s +FE module, converted into multi-part volume meshes for physics-based simulation. The new release of the +CAD module will be enhanced by the incorporation of solid mesh healing and fast, robust Boolean operations on STLs from MachineWorks’ Polygonica API.
Dr Philippe Young, Managing Director of Simpleware, explained that “the Polygonica collaboration will help to improve the functionality of our software. We’re looking forward to increasing the range of options available for our customers when working with image data and CAD files.”
Dr David Knight, Sales Manager at MachineWorks Ltd., also commented that "we are very pleased that Simpleware have selected Polygonica to provide advanced mesh processing capabilities for their +CAD module. This serves to demonstrate the power and flexibility of our polygon modelling kernel.”
Simpleware and Polygonica will both be exhibiting at the Engineering Simulation Show at the Derby Roundhouse on the 23rd of April. Both teams will be available to talk visitors through the new functionality, and how they can use Simpleware software to aid in bridging scan data with CAD, Finite Element Analysis (FEA), Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and 3D printing.
