The manufacturing industry continues to drive the digital transformation. The increasing demand for customized and intelligent products presents companies with the challenge of implementing new technologies, procedures and business models faster and at the same time mastering the increasing complexity.
The Research and Application Center Industry 4.0 at the Chair of Business Information Technology, Processes and Systems at the University of Potsdam evaluates the leading providers of industrial software solutions every year in the "Factory Software of the Year" competition. This year, the experts evaluated solutions in the categories Automation and Processes, Platforms and Digital Factory.
CONTACT's highly modular low-code platform, with flexibly combinable, coordinated software building blocks for the development and operation of smart products, convinced the jury. With the highest score in the overall field of all applications CONTACT Elements was chosen as the winner in the category platform.
The experts particularly emphasized the high level of consistency and the easy integration into existing structures through open standards. The possibility for customers to develop their own applications convinced them as well as the InSync Design System for a better overview in complex development processes and the interface technology for the realization of IoT services.
The jury evaluated the presented solutions according to differently weighted criteria. The concrete customer benefit was the decisive factor with 26 percent, followed by platform suitability (21 percent) and interoperability and compliance with standards (19 percent). Other criteria were the brownfield approach, investments in research and development and customer communication.
"Our users appreciate the intuitive user interface of our software. This award shows that we have correctly understood the platform idea as well as the topics of interoperability and innovative digital services and have integrated them solidly into our technology kit", says Regine Wolters, Product Manager PLM at CONTACT Software on the award.
