Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division announced Gemeindewerke Halstenbek, the municipal utility of Halstenbek, Germany, has deployed HxGN Networks in the cloud.
HxGN NetWorks, Hexagon’s geospatial asset management solution, will bring a profusion of improvements to Gemeindewerke Halstenbek. It ensures compliance with rigorous new cybersecurity mandates and brings the utility in line with the requirements of KRITIS, the German critical infrastructure protection law. It will also enable more efficient adoption of renewable energy, save on capital expenditures and speed up outage management by giving field workers mobile access to real-time network details.
Halstenbek, a suburb of Hamburg, provides electricity, water and natural gas to about 10,000 customers. Hosted in Oracle, HxGN NetWorks in the cloud will enable the utility to scale to adapt to changing grid demands, such as electric vehicles, new influxes of power from rooftop solar panels and other renewable energy sources.
“Upgrading to a cloud-based geospatial asset management solution gives us a secure, state-of-the-art network now and into the future,” said Andreas Riemenschneider, technical manager at Gemeindewerke Halstenbek. “Our customers will benefit from more sustainable utilities and a more resilient and stable power grid.”
“Hexagon is proud to provide Gemeindewerke Halstenbek the solution to modernize its network and meet cybersecurity needs, increase sustainability efforts and decrease outage times,” said Maximilian Weber, senior vice president of Infrastructure for Hexagon’s Safety, Infrastructure & Geospatial division.
