solidThinking, Inc. today announced the latest version of its solidThinking Evolve® software. An enhanced user interface and refined workflow controls in solidThinking Evolve 2014 allow industrial designers to develop forms faster than ever, in either Windows or Mac OS X. This latest release empowers users with new and enhanced productivity tools, enabling faster creation of complex products.
"We have been listening carefully and collecting feedback from both veteran and new customers," says Darren Chilton, Program Manager for solidThinking Evolve. "With Evolve 2014, we focused on adding new features to make the existing workflow more efficient, the geometry even more robust, and to fine tune the most commonly used tools."
More details are available at solidThinking.com/Evolve. The website features a large collection of new videos including an overview of what's new in Evolve 2014, a tour of the user interface, and an overview of how Evolve fits into the product design process.
Key new features in solidThinking Evolve 2014 include:
Live Linking to KeyShot – Enables KeyShot scenes to be continuously updated directly from Evolve
New Construction Aids and Scene Management – New and improved snaps, new isolate mode, better management of hiding/unhiding objects, and many new hotkeys to increase workflow efficiency
Enhanced User Interface Options – Simplified workflow for importing and controlling background images, new option to enable/disable selection pre-highlighting, and a mode to quickly disable curve visualization for better model evaluation
Improved Modeling Tools – Refined replication tools for a more intuitive workflow, increased surface control for the Round tool, and more robust deformation tools
"Detailed control over the surfaces in solidThinking Evolve affords enormous modeling freedom without complexity," says Sundog Eyewear Creative Director, Michal Hrk. "I have a picture in my mind that I want to come as close to as possible, and Evolve gives me the ability to quickly find alternatives and sometimes discover an unexpected and better end result."
solidThinking Evolve allows industrial designers to develop forms faster, using either a Windows PC or Mac. Evolve captures an initial sketch, allowing exploration of styling alternatives and the visualization of products with high-quality renderings generated in real time. It combines the modeling freedom of organic surfaces and the control of parametric solids with a unique ConstructionTree™ history feature. Evolve releases designers from the constraints of engineering-oriented CAD tools, while allowing the export of digital models required by others in the product development process.
