Synergis Software announced the release of their latest Adept Web Client, which is specifically designed to provide iPad® users easy access to Adept's engineering document management capabilities. The Adept Web Client now supports iPads running iOS 7 over a network using the Safari web browser. "Clients want to extend Adept's engineering document management capabilities to users in the field, at a job site, in the plant, or on the shop floor. Now they're able to access their engineering and design data from their iPad," said Todd Cummings, vice president of research and development. "With a network connection, a URL, and an Adept login, users have fast access to critical design data on the go."
iPad access in Adept doesn't require a download from the Apple App Store. The touch-enabled web controls used to provide iPad access are designed to enhance user experience in a tablet- friendly way. Adept auto-detects iPad users and presents the touch-enabled interface.
Using the iPad's built-in viewing capabilities, Adept for the iPad views Word, Excel, photos and others images. Design and engineering documents from CAD applications such as AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, and SolidWorks must be pre-rendered as PDFs for viewing on the Adept for iPad. PDFs can be rendered manually or automated using Adept PublishWave, which provides batch publishing and printing for Adept.
