Trimble announced the launch of premium direct georeferencing solutions for mapping sensors on uncrewed aerial vehicles (UAVs) – the Trimble® APX RTX portfolio. When used by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and drone payload integrators, their customers can fly around-the-clock in widely variable environments to efficiently and quickly deliver high accuracy, reliable map products. This is made possible by the integration of Trimble CenterPoint® RTX, which enables real-time and post-mission direct georeferencing of camera, LiDAR and hyperspectral mapping sensors on UAVs with centimeter-level accuracy. It achieves this without needing base stations, making mapping more efficient.  This announcement was made at INTERGEO 2024, the world’s leading conference for geodesy, geoinformation and land management.  The next generation Trimble APX RTX is embedded with new, compact, survey-grade GNSS inertial hardware that delivers real-time positioning and highly accurate roll, pitch and heading measurements. It includes four variants for mapping at different flying heights and beyond visual line

Ansys and TSMC announced a successful pilot with Microsoft that significantly speeds-up the simulation and analysis of silicon photonic components. Together, the companies achieved over 10X speed-up of Ansys Lumerical FDTD photonics simulation via Microsoft Azure NC A100v4-series virtual machines, powered by NVIDIA running on Azure AI infrastructure. PICs are integral to applications across industries, including data communications, biomedical tools, automotive LiDAR systems, artificial intelligence, and more.  Silicon PIC, a type of optical communications that enables data to travel farther and faster, is integral to hyperscale data centers and Internet-of-Things applications. Combining photonic and electronic circuits is a painstaking task requiring precise multiphysics design and fabrication. A minor misstep can create continuity challenges within chips, which can result in added cost and timeline setbacks up to several months.  To alleviate challenges and unlock the ultra-bandwidth capabilities of silicon PIC, TSMC collaborated with Ansys to speed-up Lumerical FDTD simulations using highly efficient Azure virtual

Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA 25 September 2024—CIMdata, Inc., the leading global research, consulting, and education firm specializing in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and the Digital Transformation it enables, announces that its Principal Consultant, Tom Gill, will participate in a webinar on variation management. The webinar, organized by Sigmetrix, takes place on Tuesday, 8 October, at 11:00 AM EDT. Managing variation in parts and assemblies that make up products is a valuable competency that bridges product development and manufacturing processes. Model-based definition (MBD) and model-based enterprise require the application of dimensioning and tolerancing specifications to shift left earlier in the lifecycle. The resulting benefits to an organization can be dramatic, lowering cost, improving quality, and shortening time-to-market. Companies continue to struggle to achieve success in their digital transformation programs even as they adopt new agile-based deployment methodologies because they don’t understand the impact of variation.
