3D Systems announced today that it will be showcasing its most advanced 3D printing design-to-manufacturing solutions at the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS) 2014, September 8-13 at McCormick Place in Chicago, IL (Booth N-6073). Granta Design announced a fourth phase for the Material Data Management Consortium (MDMC), focusing on “Managing data for maximum impact in material and product research and development”. The announcement follows August’s MDMC meeting, hosted by United Technologies Corp. subsidiary, Pratt & Whitney, in East Hartford, CT. GKN Aerospace has also joined the international group of engineering enterprises involved in Phase IV. The MDMC is a collaborative project founded in 2002 following an initiative from ASM International, NASA, and Granta Design. He is responsible for overseeing the development and implementation of business growth strategies for Geometrics’ targeted industry verticals. John is also responsible for leading the Go-to-Market strategy and development of the sales processes and competencies in the company. John joined Geometric in 2012 and was responsible for leading the Global Automotive Industry Vertical of the company. Today, Altair announced that rapid prototyping and additive manufacturing leader Materialise has joined the Altair Partner Alliance, making 3-matic STL available to HyperWorks® users. With 3-matic STL, users can make design modifications directly on STL, scanned, and computer-aided design (CAD) data in preparation for 3D printing. In particular, use of this software facilitates the use of topology optimization during the design process. The software works on an STL level to allow users to modify designs, remesh, create 3D textures, and more for an optimal and effective result.
