Materialise and nTop have announced a pioneering collaboration to push the boundaries of what’s possible with additive manufacturing (AM). The integration of nTop Core, nTop’s implicit modeling API, with Materialise's Magics 3D Print Suite and NxG Build Processor, will allow manufacturers to accelerate the entire design-to-manufacturing process and enable the production of complex parts that were previously impossible to print. This collaboration has already demonstrated success in producing a high-performance, 3D-printed cylinder head for Wärtsilä, significantly enhancing cooling performance and reducing weight by 60%, which was printed by Nikon SLM Solutions.  This partnership solves a common problem for complex, high-performance designs by enabling implicit design files to be exchanged between design and manufacturing teams and natively processed for production without meshing or other intermediate processes. In turn, this allows engineering teams to design higher-performance parts with more features and capabilities while assuring they can be produced precisely and economically. nTop has developed

Stratasys Ltd. and aviation manufacturing pioneer AM Craft announced that they are partnering to align the two companies’ efforts to grow the demand for flight-certified 3D printed parts in the aviation industry. The companies signed a definitive commercial collaboration agreement, along with Stratasys’ strategic investment in AM Craft. Holding an EASA Part 21G Production Organization Approval, AM Craft solves a key barrier to broader adoption of 3D printed parts in the aviation industry by delivering airworthiness certified parts to airlines, MROs, and OEMs. Additive manufacturing has strong appeal as a supply chain solution in these markets due to the long sustainment life of aircraft and the resulting challenges in forecasting and stocking replacement parts. “The low volume, high mix nature of the aviation aftermarket has resulted in extreme challenges to supply even the most minor of parts necessary to keep global fleets flying,” said Stratasys Senior Vice President Jeff Hemenway. “Additive manufacturing

Desktop Metal, a global leader in Additive Manufacturing 2.0 technologies for mass production, announced the launch of Live Inspect™ for analyzing and correcting errors in 3D printed parts. Part of Desktop Metal’s Live Suite software portfolio, Live Inspect allows manufacturers to dial in accuracy and 3D print parts that hit higher tolerances. The software analyzes features on a 3D scan — such as holes, slots, and planar surfaces — and provides tolerance analysis according to standard geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) norms and practices. Live Inspect then automatically applies feature-level scan adjustments that correct for deviations identified by the tolerance-based scan analysis. Many users of additive technologies use 3D scanners to verify part tolerances. While some tools provide an analysis of these scans, Live Inspect both analyzes and corrects for 3D printing variations. “Our team developed Live Inspect with the goal of delivering 3D printed results as true to CAD designs as possible,”

Honeywell introduced Connected Power, a groundbreaking solution that helps monitor, manage and automate buildings' power usage at the plug level. The solution offers insights into where energy is being used – and wasted – across North America.  Buildings' energy usage and related processes account for approximately 37% of global CO2 emissions, which places pressure on building owners and managers to reduce energy consumption. Today, common devices – including vending, copy and coffee machines – continuously consume energy. In many commercial buildings, much of this power is consumed even when no one is working in the area, which has become more common due to hybrid work schedules. Depending on the type of building, plug loads can account for between 25% and 50% of energy consumption. According to a recent Honeywell survey, the majority of employees either never unplug their devices or only do so for reasons including troubleshooting or going on vacation. The survey found that fewer than 1-in-5

Kahua, a leading provider of capital program and construction project management information systems (PMIS), announces it has attained TX-RAMP Level 2, the highest-level certification to supply collaborative construction management to State of Texas agencies and the government community.  TX-RAMP (Texas Risk and Authorization Management Program) is a cybersecurity program that was modeled after the similarly named FedRAMP and StateRAMP programs to ensure that cloud computing services that work with federal or state agencies have adequate security controls in place.  TX-RAMP was created by the Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) to provide a method to review the security measures taken by cloud-based products and services that process and transmit data to Texas state agencies. TX-RAMP Level 2 authorization is of specific importance to the Texas Department of Transportation, K-12 schools, higher education entities and all other state agencies with infrastructure and construction projects. The Texas Department of Information Resources requires TX-RAMP Level 2 authorization for cloud services that process, store or transmit agency data determined
