Computer Simulation Technology AG (CST) has announced the winners of the CST University Publication Award 2014, an annual event awarding university institutes and researchers for published papers related to electromagnetic simulation applications. The CST University Publication Award recognizes the importance of work from university researchers and academics by granting winners of the award extensions and upgrades to their CST STUDIO SUITE® installations. For papers to be considered in the award, they must meet three conditions: they must be authored or co-authored by university researchers, they must have been published either in scientific journals or conference proceedings, and the numerical results must be entirely or partly obtained through simulations using CST software. Submissions are evaluated on a number of criteria, including originality of application and theory, clarity of presentation, and the skillful use of CST software. A special award is also given for short papers, of four pages or less, to acknowledge the importance

PDF Key takeaways: The global economy is undergoing fundamental changes in production, demand, and even the definition of what is a product, according to Autodesk, and their strategy is focused on democratizing the solutions needed in this evolving world Autodesk is in their third era of delivering product development solutions: documenting (Autodesk disrupting with AutoCAD), optimizing (with solutions from many other solution providers), and now in an era of connection, where that word is laden with social and technical meaning Autodesk recognizes they must, in part, sow the seeds of their own “destruction” to ensure long-term growth in support of their democratization mission The global Autodesk University (AU) series held its biggest event of the year December 2-4 at the Mandalay Bay Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada. Over 10,000 were expected in Las Vegas, with another 12,000 attending regional AUs held at different times earlier in the year (and with still more attending online). Autodesk

This free educational webinar, dedicated to exploring the difference between PLM and ERP, will take place on January 28, 2015 ANN ARBOR, Michigan, 18 December 2014 – CIMdata, Inc., the leading global PLM strategic management consulting and research firm, announces a free educational webinar, “PLM & ERP: What’s the Difference, and Why Should you Care?” Join CIMdata on January 28 at 10:00 (EST) / 16:00 (CET) to find out more about how to rationalize the design processes that are managed by PLM and the manufacturing activities that are managed by ERP. Based on CIMdata’s over 30 years of experience in the PLM industry, our experts have identified the potential pain points associated with supporting PLM and ERP within the enterprise: the entire budget is spent on ERP with little left over for PLM; ERP is the master for all product information, PLM is little more than an afterthought; millions have been spent

ZWCAD Design today officially announced the second generation of its mobile solution product and gave it a brand new name CAD Pockets to intuitively deliver its value. The new CAD Pockets made major breakthroughs in input and output, confidentiality, and most importantly drawing and editing functionality. Currently the new features are only available for iOS devices, while the Android version will come soon. Omni-functional Mobile CAD Solution “Mobile CAD has long been used as a viewer instead of an effective design program, due to the insufficient features,” said Daniel Huang, Product Manager of ZWCAD, “With increasing popularity of mobile devices, a CAD solution that includes relatively complete features for basic design becomes necessary. CAD Pockets not only allows designers to work anywhere they would like but also enables them to do more.” More than a viewer Create New Drawing: Unlike other CAD solutions, CAD Pockets is more than a viewer and enables designers

ZWCAD Design today officially released its architecture specified product ZWCAD Architecture 2015. This new version has specialized enhancements like Layer Wall and integrated Google Earth for architecture, enabling architects to gain immediate productivity and pushing their architecture design to a higher level. Create Multi-layered Walls In Europe and other parts of the world with fluctuating temperatures, walls are designed with multiple layers to adapt to this condition. To allow designers to illustrate this, ZWCAD Architecture 2015 supports layer wall, in order to aid in the creation of a multi-layer wall. Users can also define the property of the wall and customize the baseline, strength, width and other factors of multiple layers. This simplification means that users can spend time exploring other possibilities within their design. Experience Your Design in the Real World For architects, a tricky problem is that they often find it hard to define whether their designs fit in the real

Parasolid v27.1 delivers numerous enhancements to support efficiency and effectiveness in complex modeling workflows. These enhancements enable application developers to deliver step changes in productivity to end-users. Parasolid provides high-level geometric functionality that can be most productively and robustly achieved at the kernel modeler level, which allows application developers to focus on their customers’ other requirements. Enhanced areas in Parasolid v27.1 include blending, surfacing, modeling support and platform support. These enhancements are in addition to numerous improvements targeted at specific industries and workflows. Blending Parasolid v27.1 provides extended control over the shape of blends. This extended control enables end-users to get the exact shape required for functional or aesthetic purposes, which demonstrates the use of blending as a complex modeling technique beyond its historical role of simply rounding off model edges. Blending enhancements allow you to: More easily control the profile of G2 face blends by providing constant depth and skew values Define variable radius

Many ShipConstructor users have already realized the value of SSI’s new information-sharing tool, SSI EnterprisePlatform PublisherLT. This product was launched in September 2014 with the ShipConstructor 2015 release. However, a number of clients are mid-project in an older version of ShipConstructor and would like a way to utilize the new functionalities with a previous ShipConstructor release. To facilitate this process, SSI has made available a version of PublisherLT that works with older ShipConstructor versions. Engineering Data can now be easily accessed in any format by anyone from any department at any time. PublisherLT allows individuals – even those not using ShipConstructor directly - to gather, convert, manipulate and save information from the ShipConstructor Marine Information Model (MIM). Stakeholders throughout an organization, across departments, do not always know where to look within the product data model to find the information they need to do their jobs. A key benefit of PublisherLT is that

Featured technology from Delcam at the Houstex exhibition from 24th to 26th February will be the latest versions of the company’s PowerMILL, FeatureCAM and PartMaker CAM systems.  Visitors to the Delcam booth, #1141, at the George R Brown Convention Center in Houston, Texas, will see major enhancements that will help manufacturing companies, especially those in the oil and gas, aerospace and defence, and automotive industries, to increase productivity, improve quality and reduce lead times. The new release of PowerMILL, Delcam’s programming system for high-speed and five-axis machining, includes improvements to the Vortex high-efficiency area-clearance strategy, expanded collision checking to also cover near misses, and more efficient raster finishing. Vortex produces safe toolpaths with a much deeper cut by using a controlled engagement angle that maintains the optimum cutting conditions for the whole toolpath.  As a result, higher feed rates and material-removal rates are possible, making the cutting time shorter by as much
