PTC today announced that the Internet of Things (IoT) enabling technology businesses it acquired in 2014 – ThingWorx and Axeda –received several prestigious awards from Compass Intelligence at last week’s International CES, the world’s largest consumer electronics show. ThingWorx was awarded both Enabling Technology of the Year and App Development / Enablement Platform of the Year in its category. MSC Software Corporation announced that e-Xstream engineering's Digimat modeling platform has been named a top innovation in composite manufacturing by the world's largest composite industry group. Researchers from academic institutions across Europe will soon be able to perform some of the most sophisticated simulations imaginable thanks to a new partnership between ANSYS and the High Performance Computing Center (HLRS) of the University of Stuttgart/Germany. The partnership offers researchers access to ANSYS' engineering simulation solutions on HLRS' supercomputing assets to perform demanding computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for industrial machinery and internal combustion engine applications. Those applications require all simulation variables to be analyzed over time and space, which puts significant demands on high performance computing (HPC) power and data storage. Both applications involve developing and enhancing sophisticated simulation models that are associated with such complex phenomena as fuel injection, evaporation and fuel-wall interaction, as well as combustion and emission formation.
