Nemetschek Vectorworks, Inc., has announced new functionalities for its Vectorworks 2015 line of design software including the BIM Collaboration Format (BCF) Importer and the Simplified Geometry Model View Definition (MVD). These two features are part of Service Pack 3, which also includes other improvements. BCF Importer The new BCF Importer allows users to read BCF files from collaborators to view project model issues directly within the context of the Vectorworks model. Now users can review and resolve issues that may require changes to the architectural model without having to switch between Vectorworks and another application. Straumann will leverage Dassault Systèmes to digitize their manufacturing operations management processes. This conversion can increase efficiency while improving operational agility. Straumann faced increasing challenges surrounding logistics flow, archiving and the need for increased compliance and efficiency. The company will implement a DELMIA Apriso Paperless Manufacturing solution to address these challenges, with a goal of improving operational flexibility and responsiveness. The adoption of paperless manufacturing processes – including electronic Device History Records (eDHR) – can shorten lead times, ease access to relevant batch data and reduce replenishment cycles while maintaining regulatory compliance. PartXplore, the powerful, fully featured, high speed CAD file viewer and analyser from Vero Software will have its European launch at Industrie 2015. PTC today announced that Robert Schechter has assumed the role of chairman of the company’s Board of Directors. Schechter, a PTC director since 2009, is former CEO of NMS Communications Corporation, a provider of hardware and software solutions for the communications industry. He has considerable experience in the technology industry, currently serving on the boards of Tremor Video Inc. and EXA Corporation and previously serving on the boards of Unica Corporation and Soapstone Networks. Open Design Alliance (ODA) announced support for the Android 5 mobile operating system in the latest release of Teigha, the ODA’s software development platform for engineering applications. Built against the latest Android NDK 10, the new release is designed for ODA members developing Android applications on Teigha, a cross platform solution.
