C3D Labs, part of the ASCON Group, is pleased to announce that the Mac OSX version of its C3D geometric kernel is now available to developers. The kernel is used by third-party developers to create their own CAD, CAM, and CAE systems and add-on applications. It now supports three operating systems: Linux, Mac OS X and Windows. C3D Labs is always listening to its customers, which is why a wide variety of development environments can be used to deploy design software. For instance, the C3D kernel was earlier ported to the Android operating system. It was used the basis of the KOMPAS:24 mobile solution, released by ASCON in December 2013. KOMPAS:24 is used to view 3D models on Android tablets and smartphones.

AMC Bridge has released the Cloud Renderer for Autodesk Revit 2014. Cloud Renderer for Revit, a plug-in that enables physically based rendering of Revit models on the Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform, is now available on Autodesk Exchange Apps. AMC Bridge has released the Cloud Renderer for Autodesk Revit 2014, a plug-in that enables physically based rendering of Revit models on the Microsoft Windows Azure cloud platform. Physically based rendering provides images of high photorealistic fidelity, but also requires significant computational resources, which has kept this capability out of reach of the mainstream 3D mechanical CAD community and restricted its use to the digital art and entertainment industries. Cloud Renderer for Revit plug-in provides access to highly scalable computational resources on the Windows Azure cloud platform and opens new rendering opportunities to Revit users.

Mentor Graphics Corp. announced that LEONI is expanding its use of Capital® software throughout the world. LEONI now has significant Capital software deployments in Europe, America and Pacific Rim. This growth is driven in part by increasing adoption of the modular approach to wire harness configuration management, also known as customer-specific or zero give-away harnessing.  This approach is strongly supported by the Mentor® Capital ModularXC™ tool, which in turn is tightly linked with other products in the Capital suite and with adjacent applications such as mechanical CAD applications. “Capital is by far the most capable commercial off-the-shelf software addressing wire harness design, engineering and manufacturing. So it is the natural choice as LEONI’s standard environment” said Carsten Wilhelm, Director of Engineering Systems for Manufacturing. “Mentor also has technical depth across multiple relevant domains, excellent geographic coverage, and strong presence at the world’s leading automotive and off-road vehicle OEMs. In addition, Capital
