Do any of the following statements sound a little too familiar?
  • Digitalization and PLM solutions are managed independently, leading to gaps and overlaps in investment and execution.
  • Digitalization projects recreate information resources more readily than when provided by PLM.
  • PLM programs do not prioritize extensions and integrations to support the information requirements of Digitalization projects.
  • Digitalization and PLM solution architectures are independent and incompatible.
  • The perception of PLM as an engineering-only solution undercuts efforts to extend PLM solutions throughout the lifecycle.
  • The perception of Digitalization strategies and solutions as enabling a set of new value propositions within targeted business areas undercuts the commitment to enterprise solutions such as PLM.
  • Time-to-value and return on investment for both PLM and Digitalization are substantially diminished.

There is real energy behind the idea of Digitalization. Senior leaders in many companies are embracing the concept and beginning to invest heavily. There is true strength to the concept. So, whether Digitalization lives up to the hype may all come down to proper positioning and execution. One thing for sure is that in many companies that are aggressively pursuing Digitalization, the interrelationship with and the importance of PLM is not well understood, and in some cases not even acknowledged. Such were the findings of a CIMdata survey on the topic conducted late last year. During this webinar we will explore the results and implications of that survey and open the floor to the audience to share their perspectives and experience. With real time polling and open mic segments we will orchestrate a dialogue within the PLM community, contributing to a deeper understanding of current perceptions and promoting recognition of PLM as a key prerequisite platform for Digitalization.
