    • 1:40 p.m. – 2:20 p.m. | Manufacturing in the Built World
Mike Fry, Director, Manufacturing Systems Engineering Consulting Practice, CIMdata [bio]
Is the adoption of Internet of things (IoT), Industry 4.0 practices, and new technologies, such as Augmented Reality & Virtual Reality, providing existing manufacturing companies added value and return on investment? This presentation will consider the new processes, their return on investment, and their integration into existing PLM, MES, and MOM environments.
    • 2:20 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. | The Industrialization of Additive Manufacturing
James White, Director, Additive Manufacturing Strategy Consulting Practice, CIMdata [bio]
Advances in Additive Manufacturing (AM) equipment such as AM machines, design & simulation software tools, and AM materials offer the prospect of making industrial quality, for end-use, components and even whole products. This presentation will outline areas that must considered by companies implementing AM into production.
  • 3:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m. | Networking Break
  • 3:15 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. | Short Takes on Hot Topics
There are a number of enabling technologies that support Industry 4.0 that solution providers and their customers must understand fully to support their successful adoption. These sessions include CIMdata’s initial research on these topics and look for the audience to engage to provide their key insights.
    • 3:15 p.m. – 3:35 p.m. | Service Lifecycle Management: Leveraging IoT/IIoT to Deliver New Capabilities and Business Models
Ken Amann, Executive Consultant, CIMdata [bio]
Service Lifecycle Management (SLM) continues to become a more important part of PLM. This session will describe SLM and how companies are leveraging IoT/IIoT to capture and manage more information about the in-service use and status of products and systems. This information is enabling them to provide better response to their customers and create new business models in which service rather than the product is the focus, e.g., power by the hour.
    • 3:35 p.m. – 3:55 p.m. | Closing the Big Data Loop in PLM
      John MacKrell, Chairman, CIMdata [bio]
Big Data continues to garner a lot of attention from industrial companies. It is critical for enterprises to be able to mine data to separate actionable and insightful data from the data debris. For PLM, it is essential to enable closing the loop for big data from IoT, IIoT, and other sources. This session will discuss PLM’s expanding role in managing and extracting value from Big Data.
    • 3:55 p.m. – 4:15 p.m. | Virtual/Augmented Reality: Where Did It Come From and Where Is It Going?
Stan Przybylinski, Vice President, CIMdata [bio]
Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) are not new topics, they have been around for decades just like 3D printing. Has it finally crossed the chasm? A brief history of AR and VR through the decades will be reviewed. Pros and cons of the current state of the art will be identified. Upcoming developments, including standards and consumer developments, will be assessed to tease out where AR and VR is likely to go in the next 2- to 5-years.
  • 4:15 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. | Closing Comments
    Peter Bilello, President, CIMdata [bio]
