A Complimentary Webinar sponsored by the Aerospace & Defense PLM Action Group
Featuring Chris Watkins, Principal Engineer of MBSE, Gulfstream Aerospace Corporation
24 February 2026
11:00 EST | 08:00 PST | 17:00 CET
Over the past decade, adoption of Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) has accelerated dramatically, coinciding with the widespread use of collaborative document platforms such as Microsoft Office 365. However, as organizations transitioned from document-centric to model-centric approaches, they discovered that collaboration capabilities within MBSE environments lagged—even though the need for effective collaboration in models was greater than with document-based systems engineering.
The release of SysML v2 in September 2025 has renewed optimism for advancing collaboration in MBSE. This next-generation standard introduces a fundamentally new modeling language and infrastructure, leveraging data repositories and standardized APIs to deliver model data to diverse client applications. Industry anticipates significant improvements in collaboration as solution providers implement SysML v2—not only within system architecture tools but also through integration with adjacent domains such as requirements management, verification and validation, project management, financial planning, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM).
This webinar will report the results of an in-depth 18-month investigation conducted by domain experts from A&D PLM Action Group companies to analyze SysML v2’s capabilities and the implications for OEMs and suppliers. The project team explored deployment strategies for collaborative MBSE scenarios, identified gaps in the standard, assessed external considerations, and formulated recommendations for the aerospace and defense industry, solution providers, and standards bodies.
This webinar is designed for anyone with a responsibility or interest in product program integration, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), PLM program planning, and PLM Systems Architecture. More generally, it will be of interest to those involved in digitalization and transformation across products, production, or services.
Specific roles that would benefit include product program and engineering managers, supply chain managers, and PLM program and project managers. It is also highly relevant for systems engineers and architects, MBSE engineers and architects, and members of MBSE standards committees. Additionally, PLM solution architects and solution providers across the MBSE and PLM landscapes will find the presentation valuable. Finally, strategists and solution architects focused on the digital thread, digitalization, and digital transformation will find this information particularly essential for their planning and implementation efforts.
During the webinar, you’ll also have the opportunity to ask questions.
The Guide is designed to help potential PLM users evaluate the applicability and payoffs of PLM in their enterprise, and to help existing users of PLM monitor the impact it is having on their product programs.
