
James (Jim) Wasiloff is the Armored Multi-Purpose Vehicle Reliability Leader at BAE Systems. In this role, he leads the AMPV Reliability Engineering program effort and serves as a BAE Systems consultant on Lean Six Sigma, Design for Six Sigma, and Autonomous Vehicle Technology.
Prior to joining BAE Systems in September of 2015, Jim was the Director, Transformation (G7) and Continuous Process Improvement Program, with US Army TACOM Life Cycle Management Command (TACOM LCMC). In this role he served as the Chief of the TACOM LCMC Strategic Planning and Transformation Lean Six Sigma deployment cell. He was responsible for managing Continuous Process Improvement, including Lean Six Sigma deployment, throughout TACOM LCMC business units and enterprise partners, and developed an overarching TACOM Lean Six Sigma deployment plan.
From 2005-2007, Jim was the Manager for Reliability Engineering and Six Sigma at General Dynamics Land Systems, where he served as corporate Design for Six Sigma Deployment Director in the Systems Engineering Directorate. Prior to joining General Dynamics, he held various engineering, Six Sigma, quality and reliability management, and technical specialist positions in the automotive sector, including Ford Motor Company and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles.
Jim has authored several technical papers on reliability, robust engineering, axiomatic design, Design for Six Sigma, mechanism design and synthesis, and design of experiments, and has chaired technical symposia, conferences, and interchange sessions hosted by professional organizations, including the Society of Automotive Engineers, the American Society for Quality, the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and the Society of Reliability Engineers.
Jim has a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Oakland University, a Master of Science degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering from The University of Michigan, and is currently enrolled in a Doctorate in Engineering program in Manufacturing (Reliability and Robust Engineering) at The University of Michigan. He has studied Artificial Intelligence and Autonomous Vehicles at Stanford University under Sebastian Thrun. He is also a certified Six Sigma Master Black Belt and has specialized in the implementation of Design for Six Sigma and related preemptive problem avoidance methodologies.
