Synopsys, Inc., has reported results for its second quarter of fiscal year 2014. For the second quarter of fiscal year 2014, Synopsys reported revenue of $517.7 million, compared to $499.3 million for the second quarter of fiscal 2013, an increase of 3.7 percent.   "Our fiscal second quarter results were very strong, driven by robust business in all key areas," said Aart de Geus, chairman and co-CEO of Synopsys.  "In addition, we introduced several important new products, including IC Compiler II, a game-changer in digital design, and we completed the acquisition of Coverity, bringing us into the emerging market of software quality, test and security." GAAP Results On a generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) basis, net income for the second quarter of fiscal 2014 was $63.3 million, or $0.40 per share, compared to $68.7 million, or $0.44 per share, for the second quarter of fiscal 2013. One of Italy’s leading specialists in WorkNC software received a top award at the company’s global reseller conference. With 259 resellers across Vero Software’s portfolio of software brands attending the conference at Orlando, Florida, Taglio C S.r.I won the award for Best WorkNC Reseller Of the Year. Nuance Communications, Inc. announced that Oracle® has selected Nuance voice and language offerings for a broad set of Oracle mobile apps. Under the worldwide and multi-year agreement, Oracle will use Nuance Cloud Services to add speech recognition and synthesis to certain mobile apps that support Oracle Applications for ERP, SCM, CRM, and HCM, Oracle Eloqua Marketing Cloud Service, Oracle RightNow Cloud Service and Oracle Taleo Cloud Service, among others. Dassault Systèmes today announced the introduction of its newest brand, BIOVIA.  The new brand is a combination of Dassault Systèmes’ own activities in BioIntelligence, its collaborative 3DEXPERIENCE technologies, and the leading life sciences and material sciences applications from the recent acquisition of Accelrys.  The newly acquired company’s solutions focus on biological, chemical and materials modeling and simulation, research and open collaborative discovery, enterprise laboratory and quality management, and process manufacturing intelligence. Today’s announcement was made at Accelrys’ Accelerate 2014 user conference in Washington, D.C.
