Schneider Electric has announced its decision to relocate its current operations in Edmonton to a newly constructed, larger space in March 2019 to meet increased market demand. As well as becoming the new workplace for all existing Edmonton employees, the company will also be adding additional employee positions to support growth.
"By design, this facility will offer an open, energizing, productive and safe collaborative space for our employees, and will showcase both the Schneider Electric brand and our EcoStruxure products in use throughout the facility," said Susan Uthayakumar, President of Schneider Electric Canada. "I am confident this change will evoke a positive response from our customers, suppliers, and employees alike, and will serve to meet the demands of the market for years to come."
The move to 77,000 square feet of floorspace from its existing 59,000 square foot location will provide Schneider Electric with enough capacity to introduce production of Ready-To-Install compatible power panelboards to the current production of QED switchboards, motor control centers and lighting panelboards.
Next year, all 102 existing employees currently at two separately leased locations will begin working at the new facility, located at Edmonton'sHenday Industrial Park. The facility will offer mixed-use office space and a production floor to accommodate current Global Supply Chain operations, Edmonton sales and Edmonton service employees.
This new facility includes full office integration of connected products, edge control and analytics software on the plant floor for a "Smart Factory" environment. By using its own energy management products and solutions throughout the facility, Schneider Electric is ensuring energy resources are used as effectively as possible.
