Created by ColorDigital in partnership with the German Fashion Institute (DMI), the DMIx Cloud is the first fully integrated cloud-based communications platform for designers and suppliers around the world to share virtual product data. Taking the product development process from analogue to digital, the safe, standardised environment uses real, physical data to produce perfect digital simulations with an unmatched level of colour and texture accuracy. This enables fashion and textiles brands to decide whether a colour or material fits their needs without the need to send or produce unnecessary lab dips or fabric samples.
Currently connected to the DMIx Cloud are ColorDigital, X-Rite Pantone’s Total Appearance Capture (TAC™) Ecosystem, Vidya by Assyst, the Epson SureColor SC-F6200 digital dye sublimation printer and SC-P5000 series, and Peter Büdel Accessoires.
Converting colours into unique digital codes that can be stored, edited and shared over the DMIx Cloud, ColorDigital’s colour matching software has finally overcome the challenge of defining and communicating colour, while the award-winning TAC Ecosystem transforms material scans into highly accurate digital texture files for use in 3D rendering applications as well as the TAC Virtual Light Booth: an immersive 3D environment that maps material samples onto virtual objects.
Virtual fittings and alterations can then be performed on models of all shapes and sizes with Vidya 3D simulation software, and when making the transition offline, the Epson SureColor SC-F6200 ensures consistent colour from monitor to printed textile, as Peter Büdel does likewise for 3D printed buttons, fasteners and other haberdashery.
From the 4th to 6th September 2018, all the cooperating partners come together for the Digital Textile Connection exhibition at the leading fashion and textiles trade fair Munich Fabric Start, as part of the Next Tex Innovations Showcase curated by Sourcebook GmbH. On the 5th September at 16:15, Gerd Willschütz, Managing Director of ColorDigital GmbH, will present the lecture The DMIx® Cloud Digital sourcing taken seriously on the Keyhouse Mainstage.
