After an extensive review of Breault Research’s APEX® software, support, quality assurance, and usability, Dassault Systèmes SolidWorks Corporation has promoted the APEX Optics Add-In for SOLIDWORKS to Gold Status in its partner program. APEX joins a select few SOLIDWORKS add-ins with this distinction.
According to Robert Shroder, Optical Engineer and Director of Sales at Breault Research, "With APEX, we aimed to exceed the criteria for Gold Partner Status. The result is a beautifully executed add-in that advances the reach of optical design software into the CAD/CAE sectors."
Breault Research Organization (BRO) has developed APEX to provide an easy, approachable optical design and analysis workflow inside of SOLIDWORKS. As a fully integrated add-in to the industry-standard SOLIDWORKS 3D-modeling environment, APEX facilitates and optimizes engineers' interactions with optical software tools through a true CAD interface.
According to BRO's CEO, Wayne Hall, "BRO is focused on providing the most capable and advanced optical design and analysis software. Our product suite has now grown to address the optical modeling and concurrent-engineering needs of more than 2 million SOLIDWORKS users."
The program’s light-source modeling, colorimetry, photometry, radiometry, parameterization, and optimization features make it the ideal tool for SOLIDWORKS users designing all types of illumination systems. Applications for APEX include solid-state, LED-based lighting solutions for architectural, automotive, and aviation lighting applications, as well as reflectors, lightpipes, and luminaires for solar, consumer electronics, medical, and other industry applications.
In January, BRO and APEX made their first Gold-Status appearances at SOLIDWORKS World 2014, the international congress for SOLIDWORKS users, developers, and partners.
APEX now enables the design and analysis of even the most complex optical and illumination systems with a simple, easy-to-follow workflow. “We look forward to working with our partners and resellers in the SOLIDWORKS network to bring this powerful capability to SOLIDWORKS users worldwide,” said Hall.
