ALTEN SA have completed the acquisition of Quick Release (Automotive) Ltd, a leading provider of product data management (PDM) services and consultancy to automotive manufacturers and Tier 1 component suppliers. The resultant strategic partnership will accelerate existing plans to diversify PDM offerings into additional market sectors and geographies.
Robert Ferrone, Quick Release founding director commented: “Quick Release and ALTEN are a great fit for each other. The plan is to deploy our offer in new geographies, while reinforcing our existing presence in the UK, Germany, Spain, North America and Australia. Particularly strong synergies exist around aerospace and defence, and I’m excited to see how Quick Release’s proven methodologies can help unlock value in these industries and support their digital transformation.”
Quick Release is a highly specialised and successful product data management business that over the last 16 years has been pioneering a much needed PDM profession, now with over 200 PDM professionals, consultants and developers across three continents. Leveraging bespoke tools, methods and industry benchmarking delivered through talented PDM professionals, Quick Release offers a full-spectrum of PDM services designed to guide start-ups, take business looking to scale to the next level, and facilitate transformation in established OEMs within the automotive manufacturing and technology sectors.
Service provision is diverse and closely tailored to individual project requirements but in every case focuses on releasing business value through optimised PDM. With a mature OEM, focus would typically be on releasing engineers to engineer through reduction in data and information handling effort, enabling shorter programme duration and increased product quality. Work with growing manufacturers and suppliers may include integrating product lifecycle management (PLM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) to customer-specific environments, while work with start-ups has included designing appropriate PDM solutions and scaling from single to multiple programmes.
Pierre Bonhomme, executive vice president ALTEN Technology France, UK and Northern Germany, commented: “Quick Release provide a proven and valuable service in a highly professional manner to some of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers and Tier 1 suppliers. All our engineering customers have stakes in improving time to market and competitiveness through PDM and PLM, and we believe Quick Release can provide similar value releasing opportunities in a broader manufacturing context. Quick Release further provides a bridge to significantly expand our presence in the UK and further build upon our Spanish, German and North American operations.”
Adam Blomerley, Quick Release director and newly-appointed chief executive officer added: “Having been with Quick Release since 2007 and leading the deal negotiation, I’m confident ALTEN will preserve the unique culture and capabilities we’ve developed, whilst supercharging our future and helping us to navigate our most ambitious expansion plans to date.”
