TCS Welcomes Local Partners to Letterkenny Global Delivery Centre

Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) hosted a milestone ‘welcome event’ at its Global Delivery Centre in Letterkenny, Donegal Ireland for its network of local and regional partners. The event provided an opportunity to bring together TCS’ growing ecosystem of partners to benefit the community and local economy.

Over 30 organisations were in attendance representing a range of partners including local schools, universities, charities, the Northwest Regional Skills Forum, Local Enterprise Board, Junior Achievement Ireland, Business in the Community, Udarás na Gaeltachta and the IDA among others.

The event provided one of the first real opportunities since the COVID pandemic for TCS to welcome its local and regional partners to its impressive facility located in the Letterkenny Technology Park. Additionally, the event provided valuable learning and networking opportunities for attendees to meet with local senior management at TCS to better understand the goals, ambition, and aspirations for the TCS brand and business at both a regional, national, and international level.

Speaking at the event, Andrea McBride, Head of the TCS Letterkenny Global Delivery Centre, said: “The establishment and growth of the TCS business in Letterkenny is providing opportunities for us to invest and collaborate in purposeful partnerships that make a difference. Whether that is through playing an active part in local community initiatives through sports and education, or whether it is working with local charities, TCS is committed to being a core part of the community that has so graciously welcomed us.”

TCS presented an overview of partner engagement activities over the coming months and years across a range of initiatives including education, technology skills development, employment opportunities, sustainability, and innovation programmes. Earlier this month, TCS teamed up with Letterkenny Institute of Technology to run TCS HackQuest Ireland 2022, an ethical hacking challenge event for students looking to hone and apply their skills in this important area of cyber security.

Guests at the event also got a tour of some of the state-of-the-art facilities at the TCS Global Delivery Centre including a digital innovation lab. Highlighting other developments currently in the pipeline, Gerard Grant, Director, Strategic Initiatives at the TCS Letterkenny Global Delivery Centre, said: “TCS is very excited about our continuing transformation journey as we succeed in onboarding new clients alongside building out specialist business capabilities, including a cloud experience hub and cyber security threat management centre to support multiple customers from the Letterkenny Global Delivery Centre.”

Commenting on TCS’ presence in the region, Michelle Conaghan, Regional Manager, North West Region at IDA Ireland, said: “TCS is a valued employer in the North-West. IDA Ireland is supportive of the work TCS is doing in building a successful, international, high-tech business in Ireland. As one of the largest employers in the North-West, TCS is creating job opportunities in digital transformation, cyber security, and cloud services for people across the region and beyond and is contributing significantly to the local economy. TCS is also playing a central role in establishing the North West’s reputation as a growth cluster for hi-tech enterprises and we look forward to continuing our ongoing partnership with the company.”

TCS employs close to 1,400 people at its Letterkenny facility across a range of high-skilled tech related roles.
