ZWSOFT Partners with G2 and Girls Who Code in Helping Close the Gender Gap in Tech

Tech jobs are among the fastest-growing fields in today’s world, but too many girls are being left behind and the gender gap in computing is getting worse. In 1995, 37% of computer scientists were women, and it has declined continuously to 24% in 2017. If the trend continues, it will be down to 22% in 2022.

That is something Girls Who Code is determined to change.

Founded in 2012, Girls Who Code is a nonprofit global organization with a mission to close the gender gap in technology and to change the image of what a programmer looks like and does.

Among their goals, one is to build the world's largest pipeline of future female engineers. This group is doing this in three ways. First, they set up clubs for 3rd-12th grade students to explore coding in a fun and friendly environment. Second, they offer free summer programs to teach high school students how to code and provide exposure to tech jobs. Lastly, they are not just preparing girls to enter the workforce, but also preparing them to lead it. So they also provide college programs to help their alumni succeed and build a community of peer and mentor support.

Since 2012, Girls Who Code has served 500,000 girls, women and nonbinary individuals across the country and around the world. Half of the girls they served come from historically underrepresented groups. Their alumni are choosing to major in computer science, or related fields, at a rate 7 times the national average. According to their research, by 2023, Girls Who Code can close the gender gap in new entry-level tech jobs.

You can also do a part in helping these girls.

ZWSOFT has partnered with G2.com, a trustable customer review website for software, in helping Girls Who Code to raise money to help close the gender gap in technology.

For each review about ZWCAD, G2 is donating $10 in funds to assist Girls Who Code in helping young women (many from historically underrepresented communities) build the skills and resilience they’ll need to develop solid futures in the tech industry.
