Arena Solutions today announced a new deployment of Arena PLM by ilumi®, a leading provider of intelligent, simple and innovative wirelessly controlled LED lighting solutions, to manage all of their design and manufacturing data, including sophisticated microelectronics and precision fabricated parts, for the manufacturing of ilumi Smartbulbs.
In April 2014, ilumi 'swam with the sharks' on ABC's "Shark Tank," a result of which attracted billionaire, Mark Cuban, to become an investor in the company. Based in Dallas, Texas, ilumi transforms ordinary things into extraordinary experiences, starting with the reinvention of the light bulb. The innovative ilumi color tunable LED Smartbulbs are wirelessly controlled from a free iOS or Android app using Bluetooth® Low Energy. Deemed the world's smartest lights, each ilumi Smartbulb includes RGBW LEDs, a microprocessor, a Bluetooth radio with meshing capability, and other electronic components that allow a user to adjust, set, and program the color and brightness of their lighting to get just the right light at the right time. The ilumi Smartbulb is as simple as screwing in a light bulb, but with LED and automation capability, lasts up to 20 years and uses substantially less energy than traditional lighting.
With such sophisticated microelectronics, precision fabricated parts, and a number of manufacturing partners, the company realized it would require a powerful and easy to deploy bill of materials management solution.
